Creating vs being

Starry night by the one and only Vinnie Van Gogh!

Hi everyone.

This is going to be a VERY short post.

In life you can take one of the two approaches. Just breath and be. Or create s..tuff.

End of the post.

Please don’t underestimate the pure and oozing power of this post. It doesn’t matter that it’s short. It can make you rich if you apply the lesson here.

What are your thoughts on this subject? I will answer all your comments, of course.

Also, I realize that this post will go totally viral, so the social buttons are ready below for your pleasure;)

    • Hi Dia,
Thank you for stopping by. “When we are living in the present, we are creating as well”: A thought to ponder upon.
Let’s not forget that we are physical as well, not just thoughts…
      Love your comment.

  1. Hi Derek,

He who is truly being is connected to his life’s mission and therefore creating as well. These 2 ideas are not separate necessarily.
While you don’t want to sit around to wait for life to happen you also don’t want to just push without a true connection to a purposeful mission.

    • Hi Bernardo,
You have a good point, it doesn’t have to be “either or”. I purposefully mady this post short to give it more impact. I agree with you that the two are not separate. But I want to point out that anybody IS and BREATHES, but only few are truly creative. I guess I’m talking here about the sort of creativity that is not ordinary. You can draw a stick figure and that’s creative. But maybe not enough to really impact the world.
Thank you for your comment. It’s always a pleasure to have you voice your opinions. I really appreciate it;)

    • Cool,
Yes , every post you write is a creation. And the more you do it, the better you become. As long as you learn and change:)
Thank you for your comment Bill,

  2. Love, love, love, love a short post! Pure awesomeness Derek.

And the comments? Wow. See you wrote a shorty and we had to think. How ‘bout that?

I’m all for creating s…tuff. As a musician, writer and artist well… I’ve found nothing really happens if you just sit and breathe. Unless you’re playing the harmonica.

And riches? It’s not just stuff you take to the bank. Guaranteed.

Loved your post. I’ll be off now to do my part seeing this masterpiece go VIRAL ‘man’.

  3. Hey Derek,
A concern I have been struggling with as of late is that of consuming without creating. I have been earnestly writing and righting the ship and not visiting, tweeting, emailing, etc. as much as in past times. It feels wonderful as the creativity is reaching an acceptable level. It’s time to up it and raise my demands on myself a bit higher.
    Live it LOUD!

    • Hey Rob,
      I hear you brother.
Consuming vs creating is a good filter to see the world through. Very sharp and practical dichotomy Rob. You get your point across easily. Struggle is a daily thing with me. Fighting for what drives us ain’t a bowl of cherries, ya know:)
It’s OK to struggle and fight. As long as we know our direction!
Thank you for your awesome comment.

  4. Actually, it all depends… But for me, the best things in life are those when we create :) But believe me, I just let beauty and madness be if the case were about Don McLean, Van Gogh… and Derek. LOL!

Because there really are things that are an end in itself. We can try to rationalize everything that’s happening or what we want to happen. In the end, the process swallows the beauty of it all. Particularly when it comes to living, eh?

WTH am I doing explaining all these?

Oh, hey D… you with me on hanging out at Theresa’s on July 4? Her fridge is full and she’ll have us. Party, bro? LOL!

    • Hi Ruzanne,
I always love reading your comments, because you use insight and sense of humor all in one comment, just like shampoo and conditioner in one:)
Enjoying the process is part of the great “circle of life”. Process and goals are like shampoo and cond… oops, I’m repeating myself!
If Theresa invites me, I will be there all clean and smelling fresh, and ready to party.
Is it going to be a virtual party? I’m curious.
