Whether you act or remain passive you will feel pain

If you remain passive you will feel pain of being passive, pain of being fearful, pain of being afraid of risk.

If you go into trenches of a battle, you will feel pain of defeat, pain of rejection, pain of screwing up big time.

But I can assure you that these are two different kinds of pain. Don’t make a mistake of avoiding the second kind.

Because the second kind of pain is the only way to experience life to the fullest. To go full tilt boogie. To go deep.

The first kind of pain can slowly kill you. The second kind of pain will make you very much alive.

  1. So basically passive is all pain, acting pain still occurs but the thrill of the end result is worth it? Do I have that right? I heard a quote one time “those who live life without pain never really lived life”

    • Thank you for your comment Nicole.
Pain is built in this life no matter what I do (this is my experience). That’s why I’d rather experience agony of defeat (if it happens), than agony of inaction.
The first kind is bad, the second kind is noble, IMO.
Your quote is correct, but only if it refers to the second kind of pain.
      Rock on,

  2. Short and sweet Derek. And pain-free! :)

I think the idea of pain of regret and wishful thinking is enough to get me to make my moves and do it now! (whatever it may be)

    • Hi Pea,
Thank you for stopping by for the first time.
      You understand this principle correctly.
And I read your time bandits and checked the white house. I like your blog. Let’s stay in touch.
